Persona

Designing for Sharon

Sharon.jpg

When she does go to the gym or engages with high-intensity classes, she enjoys the feeling of accomplishment and the results over time despite not enjoying the workout itself.

Being aware of the benefits of exercising while at the same time not enjoying it much creates a ‘‘grin and bear it’’ experience.

Understands the importance of maintaining muscle mass with age but wants workouts to be flexible and enjoyable.

Sharon also cares for her elderly mother, so she tries to fit in exercising when she can. She attends swimming lessons each week as she prefers an engaging activity

Sharon

Age 40

Works full-time.

Wants to keep fit and seeks motivation to maintain consistency – particularly building muscle

Sharon enjoys keeping fit, but doesn’t enjoy there petition of traditional gym workouts.

Finds the gym environment and the amount of equipment intimidating and ‘‘posey’’.

Ideation

Brainstorming ways to make fitness feel guided and social.

A UX case study in progress focused on designing a simple, intuitive user experience.

EverStrong, originally explored as FitBuddy, is a mobile fitness app concept created for women who want to stay active, build strength, and maintain consistency despite busy schedules and everyday responsibilities.

The project explores how an app can make strength training feel more approachable, guided, and motivating for women who may feel unsure about gym environments, equipment, or where to begin.

Creating a calm, supportive fitness experience.

The final UI direction uses soft neutral tones, muted green accents, rounded cards, clear progress visuals, and encouraging language. The design avoids harsh fitness branding and instead feels supportive, friendly, and approachable.
